Loop the rope around a post, through a ring, or loop of twine—wherever you are tying. The loose end is being held in the right hand, and the snap end is being held in the left.
Cross the rope being held in the right hand under the "snap end' rope.
Cross the rope back over top of the "snap end', and pull a loop up through the resulting circle.
Pull the rope tight against the post, ring or twine.
This diagram shows the quick release knot pattern expanded.

When tying use a or quick release knot panic snap so that if your horse gets scared and pulls he can quickly be freed. The feeling of being constrained can make a scared horse panic to the point of hurting himself or you.
